About Us

Mission Statement: to serve our community by collecting as much warm clothing as possible from generous local residents and ensuring that these clothing donations reach the people that need them most in our immediate community as well as the Greater Philadelphia area community as a whole.

In 2008, Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School student Colin Steinberg founded Warming Philly to help less fortunate individuals in the Greater Philadelphia area by conducting a winter clothing drive.  Since its founding, the drive has been gaining in prominence and more importantly, effectiveness.  In the fall of 2010, Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School juniors Michael Banerjee and Kevin Hennessy were recruited as volunteers and next year together became Warming Philly's first ever Co-Presidents, working in conjunction with founder Colin Steinberg to further increase the warm clothing drive's productivity.  Now, Kevin serves as Warming Philly's Vice President and Michael serves as Warming Philly's President.  As of 12/31/12, Warming Philly has been incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania as a charitable, non-profit organization.

Warming Philly has, in the past two years, donated to the Colonial Neighborhood Council (located in Conshohocken, PA), the Y-HEP Center (located in Philadelphia, PA) , and the St. Francis Inn Ministries (located in Philadelphia, PA) .  Warming Philly donated a total of over 840 pounds of clothing to the Colonial Neighborhood Council and Y-HEP Center during the 2012 Clothing Drive.

Warming Philly plans to continue to donate to both the Colonial Neighborhood Council and the Y-HEP Center but is always looking for charities, homeless shelters, and community outreach centers to donate clothing to in the Greater Philadelphia area.
